    Wheelhouse existed as a single page buried inside the Silent Ice Center website. Plain text, no personality, no way to showcase their services or retail partnerships. Here's what it looked like, and what it looks like now.

    The Challenge

    A legitimate business hidden behind someone else's website

    Wheelhouse Skate Sharpening operates out of the Silent Ice Centre in Nisku, Alberta. They're the go-to for precision skate sharpening, custom blade profiling powered by Elite E-P4 CNC technology, JRZ steel sales, and a fully stocked pro shop carrying brands like Howies, Gear Halo, DSC Hockey, BioSteel, and more.

    But none of that was visible. Wheelhouse existed as a single text-heavy sub-page on the Silent Ice Center's website. No photos of the shop, no service breakdowns, no partner logos, no way for customers to understand the full scope of what's offered. For a shop built by hockey players who take edge work seriously, the online presence didn't match the craft.

    They needed their own site, one that showed the shop, the services, the partnerships, and the quality of what they do.

    Our Approach

    Build a site that feels like walking into the shop

    We built Wheelhouse a dark, hockey-focused website with red accents that matches the energy of a pro shop. The homepage opens with a full-width hero showing the actual store, their logo front and center, and two clear CTAs: Get Directions and Contact Us. Below that, a "Why Wheelhouse" section with three value pillars: precision sharpening, walk-ins welcome, built by hockey players.

    The services page breaks down everything they offer: skate sharpening with hollow options, custom blade profiling powered by Elite's E-P4 Profiler (CNC-accurate to 2/1000th of an inch), JRZ steel sales in stainless and black, and a hydration station stocked with Pro Bar, Honey Stinger, Cwench, and BioSteel.

    We built a dedicated partner showcase featuring all 9 authorized brands with their logos, and a shop gallery with real photography of the space. The prepaid sharpening card ($80 for 10 sharpenings) is featured prominently. It's their best value offering and we made sure customers see it.

    After launch, we kept iterating. The Mini Sticks page now hosts a new Mystery Mini Tins product section with Terry's Twig Wax branding and centered mobile CTAs. We refreshed Sherwood brand assets across three rounds to land on the right framing, converted new media to WebP, and tightened copy across the homepage and Elite Partnership section to lift readability scores.

    Wheelhouse now has a website that matches the quality of their work. Customers searching for skate sharpening in the Nisku, Leduc, and Edmonton area land on a site that immediately shows the shop, the services, the authorized partnerships, and the pricing. No more hunting through the Silent Ice Center site to find a buried text page.

    The partner showcase alone, featuring 9 authorized brands with their logos, communicates a level of legitimacy that the old sub-page never could. And the prepaid sharpening card CTA is already driving card sales by giving it the visibility it deserved.

    Underneath the design, we shipped a clean technical SEO foundation: per-page custom titles and meta descriptions, WebSite and Organization structured data so Google displays the brand correctly in search, a canonicalized www host enforced with permanent 308 redirects, and properly sized crawlable favicons (96x96 and 180x180). Open Graph and Twitter share images render cleanly when the site gets shared.
